Afonso traveled to Munich on 10 and 11 November to examine the player and again to consult MRI (magnetic resonance images). It was decided to get fresh MRI done on Thursday.
After the injury, Sadio Mane and his teammates first thought they would have to give up before they could regain hope.

a replacement has to be found
Coach Aliu Cisse now has until Sunday to find a replacement for him, against the Netherlands, a day before Senegal enters the competition.
